News from the world of Strider

31st July 2010

Well nothing happening at the moment, except the usual Acoustic Night at Stamps Too on Thursdays, but I will be back Rocking at the Waiting Rooms in Hunts Cross ( hang on, just check that spelling ), on Friday 20th August, and La Barbacoa in Crosby on Saturday 21st

Friday 27th August I will be playing at Southport Football Club supporting Sinner Boy who are a very well respected
Rory Gallagher tribute band.
It's bizzar, I actually have a poster from about 1974 with a band called Strider supporting Rory Gallagher!!
Promises to be a great night, so if you like Blues/Rock, please come along. It's a ticket do and they are priced @ £4.00 in advance and £6.00 on the door. Phone Dave on:07954 179 292

And of course I will be back at the good old Royal Oak in Prescot on Saturday 28th, so hopefully I'll see you at one of these gigs.

--------------------------------------------------------

Well, can you believe it, 5 years at Stamps Too? The night went a lot quieter than expected with no supprises waiting for me! The good thing was, that most of the pub was full of people wanting to get up and play, or people connected with them, so it was a great atmosphere, and everybody got a chance to be a star for the night!!

Great night at La Barbacoa last Saturday, did all the usual acoustic stuff, Solsbury Hill, Nothing ever Happens, Seasons With You, American Pie, Runaway Train, you know the kind of stuff. Then there's the shout for the rock stuff,
" Smoke on the Water ".................on acoustic?....................... Why not, so that was backed up with Sweet Home Alabama, Whiskey in the Jar and Stairway to Heaven. Never realized just how much you could Rock with just an acoustic guitar and a looper pedal, but there you go, another great night had by all. It was so much fun playing songs as people shouted them out, even did a couple of Beatles songs, as well as Don't stop believing, the proper version of course!!

--------------------------------------------------------

Finally got the Pro-Tools HD2 system and it's now fully functional! Sounds fantastic, I can't wait to get to work on the new album of original songs, watch this space!!

--------------------------------------------------------

Can't believe it's August already! This year seems to have flown by, and yes, I know I said I was going to put another band together but I just haven't had the time I'm afraid.
The studio has been very busy, and I have been working with local bands and songwriters producing albums for them.

--------------------------------------------------------

Planning another curry with the boys soon so hopefully that should be fun.

Hope to see you at a gig real soon.

--------------------------------------------------------

The last two gigs at Stamps 2 have been really good, and I will be back there this Thursday with the wonderful
"Acoustic Jam Night". So if you fancy a chilled relaxing night, then please come along.

4th November

The boys from Strider sneak out to town for a secret curry and drink in town with big Rob from Band with no name!

Mark, Ant, Jonny and big Rob went for a secret curry in town last night and a bit of a bar crawl. We will be doing it again soon and inviting anybody else who would like to come along and join us. We will keep you informed.

21st October

Hi everyone welcome back to the Strider website.

Wednesday on Radio Merseyside with X factor finalist Laura White, and Billy Butler.

Just finished the run at the Liverpool Empire Theatre playing Guitar and Mandolin in Twopence to cross the Mersey. It's very sad as I've had such a wonderful time and worked with some excellent musicians. It's great to do something different every now and again as it really keeps you on your toes and gives you new ideas for the future. Hopefully I will be getting involved with some new projects in the new year with some of the musicians from the show, so watch this space and I'll keep you informed.

Had a great time today, went to the Philharmonic Hall to see my old mate Dave Benson Phillips, it was great to catch up as we haven't seen each other for quite a while. We worked together at the BBC, in fact I was his Musical Director a long time ago and we had a great time working on some TV shows together.

--------------------------------------------------------

And of course if you fancy a great night out on a Thursday, I'll be at Stamps Too, in Waterloo. with the lads for an Acoustic jam session,

Hope to see you all soon.

--------------------------------------------------------

Hey if anyone wants a laugh check this out: Bitsa.

It was was my appearance in the broom cupboard with Toby Anstis in 1994 playing the Bitsa theme tune live. The only trouble was, somebody turned the headphones off just as it started so we couldn't hear a thing, but as it was live TV in front of 3million viewers, we had to just carry on as if nothing happened so it was way out of sync!!

--------------------------------------------------------

For anybody who hasn't heard, Strider the band will be taking a break for a while whilst everybody goes to work on other projects. Mark will be concentrating on original material and Anthony and Jonathan will be doing covers with their other band Rodamus.

As there is still a demand for that Rocking Strider set, Mark will continue to do some solo gigs keeping the Strider flag well and truly flying!! He will be playing The Green Dragon, Whiston, The Royal Oak, Prescot, Stamps Too in Waterloo, the Crows Nest and the Blundell Arms in Widnes, and anywhere else that would like to give him gigs for that kind of Music.

In the meantime, you can still catch Mark at Stamps Too on a Thursday doing the Acoustic Night, and if you keep checking the gig guide, you'll find the solo rock gigs as well.

Mark would like to thank everybody who has supported STRIDER over the many years of gigging, and is looking forward to seeing you all again very soon. Strider will be back at some point in the future, but in what form, we do not know as of yet. Please keep checking in as this website will be continuing as normal and as soon as there is any news, I'll keep you informed.

Keep Rocking, the Strider way of course.
