News from the world of Strider
Hi everyone hope you are all well. We have a tour this weekend starting in The Endbutt, Crosby on Friday with Jonathan and myself then moving onto the Straw hat in Great Sutton, Ellesmere Port with the drumming talents of Mr Brown, and then finishing off Sunday night with one of our favorit gigs at the Olde Red Lion, Little Sutton, Ellesmere port. All these gigs are regulars and we love playing them all, so we hope you can make the effort and come along and give us your support as well as have a great time rocking to the sounds of Strider! We still have some T-Shirts left for smaller people for a tenner, these are top quality shirts and last for ages, not the usual band T-shirts that usually fall to bits after a couple of washes! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for the support at the weekend, as per usual it was a great night at the Lamb but we were saddend to find out that Sheena and Barry are leaving. We do hope the new management will continue the good work and keep it a live music pub.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We'd like to thank everyone who supported the Crosby RDA charity night at the Crosby Comrades Club last Saturday and apologies for the way people were spoken to at the end of the night by the staff there. If these people wish to rent their club out for private functions they should try to respect the people who are paying their wages!! Rant over! Tonewood Studios were on Granada Reports on Thursday 1st May and although they couldn't mention the studio by name, cause that would be classed as free advertising, they performed the interview with Asa Heart and the presenter Caroline in front of the Strider Banner, how cool is that? Anyway the studio looked fab on camera and they shot lots of footage which they used, so all is good in Studio land. Hope to see you all at the Blundell Arms or Hammer and Pincers. ---------------------------------------------- A new gig for us at the weekend, The New Rake Hotel in Eastham. Great pub with really nice people, just a pity there wasn't more of them.! Still we had a good night and hopefully it will build up and promise to be a good one for the future. The usual great night was had at the Royal Oak in Prescot, with a nice surprise appearance from guest bass player Carla. It was also wonderful to see the T-Shirts that Nicola and Carla had made with Mark written on the front.! Love it girls keep up the good work. Thanks for your support over the weekend. We had a brill night at the Lamb and as usual it was packed, not much else to say except it was fab. The Green Dragon was weird, it was pretty empty to what it usually is but it was down to the big fight. Lots of other pubs in the area where having a lock-in as long as people were in by a certain time!! Nice to know we are the support band for a fight ..!
Talking of great gigs, it was wonderful to be back at the Lamb again, God how we've missed playing there! As per usual, it was choc a-block and a fabulous atmosphere. We are booked in regular again now so again, a gig not to be missed. We're looking forward to a great year in our Capital of Culture year, we hope they haven't cocked it up too much as we think the people of Liverpool deserve this. Lets look forward to making it a fab one. If anybody would like a Strider T-Shirt, you can now buy them on-line at the Tonewood site and pay by paypal. We've even got some children's sizes and lady fit sizes this time as well. You can still buy them from Rocktopia on St Johns Rd, Waterloo, and of course from the gigs. By the way, if you now click on our photo's at the top, it will take you to the biog of that person. Except for Ant, who doesn't seem to have a history!! Thanks to Liz for taking some of the photo's, we'll have to make her our official photographer! If anybody would like to write anything about the band then please send me an email and I will put it on the main page. Also, if you have ant interesting photos of yourselves at` Strider gigs then please send them and I'll put them on the site. Well take care everyone and thanks so much for supporting our band, we really do appreciate it more than you will ever know. Mark, Anthony and Jonathan. ------------------------------------------------------ If anybody wants a laugh, goto www.hollywood.com and type in Mark Reader I'm famous!!
