News from the world of Strider

30th January 2010

I will be at the Royal Oak in Prescot tonight ( Saturday ) for anybody who would like to pop in and say hello, it would be great to see you. Great pub, great atmosphere and one I really look forward to.

Seems so weird not playing very often, I don't know how I'm going to cope for much longer!
I will be looking for a bass player and drummer very soon, so if anybody knows anyone suitable please let me know.

The last two gigs at Stamps 2 have been really good, and I will be back there this Thursday with the wonderful
"Acoustic Jam Night". So if you fancy a chilled relaxing night, then please come along.

1st January 2010

Happy New Year!

Hope you all have a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

I'm putting all the new gigs on the gig guide at the moment so at least you'll know whats happening in the New Year. There will be some great supprises coming up so please keep logging in and checking out what happening.

Alas, the acoustic night at the Village Inn on a Monday is no more. After 5 years, it has finally been sacked off. It's a shame that what was once a great pub, can go down the pan to such an extent that people just don't want to drink there anymore.
Oh well, one door closes, I can't wait to see which one opens up!!

Thanks so much to all the people who have supported the acoustic night over the years, and a special thank you to the people who have hung in there till the end. Hope to see you soon.

4th November

The boys from Strider sneak out to town for a secret curry and drink in town with big Rob from Band with no name!

Mark, Ant, Jonny and big Rob went for a secret curry in town last night and a bit of a bar crawl. We will be doing it again soon and inviting anybody else who would like to come along and join us. We will keep you informed.

21st October

Hi everyone welcome back to the Strider website.

Wednesday on Radio Merseyside with X factor finalist Laura White, and Billy Butler.

Just finished the run at the Liverpool Empire Theatre playing Guitar and Mandolin in Twopence to cross the Mersey. It's very sad as I've had such a wonderful time and worked with some excellent musicians. It's great to do something different every now and again as it really keeps you on your toes and gives you new ideas for the future. Hopefully I will be getting involved with some new projects in the new year with some of the musicians from the show, so watch this space and I'll keep you informed.

Had a great time today, went to the Philharmonic Hall to see my old mate Dave Benson Phillips, it was great to catch up as we haven't seen each other for quite a while. We worked together at the BBC, in fact I was his Musical Director a long time ago and we had a great time working on some TV shows together.

--------------------------------------------------------

And of course if you fancy a great night out on a Thursday, I'll be at Stamps Too, in Waterloo. with the lads for an Acoustic jam session,

Hope to see you all soon.

Hey if anyone wants a laugh check this out: Bitsa.

It was was my appearance in the broom cupboard with Toby Anstis in 1994 playing the Bitsa theme tune live. The only trouble was, somebody turned the headphones off just as it started so we couldn't hear a thing, but as it was live TV in front of 3million viewers, we had to just carry on as if nothing happened so it was way out of sync!!

--------------------------------------------------------

For anybody who hasn't heard, Strider the band will be taking a break for a while whilst everybody goes to work on other projects. Mark will be concentrating on original material and Anthony and Jonathan will be doing covers with their other band Rodamus.

As there is still a demand for that Rocking Strider set, Mark will continue to do some solo gigs keeping the Strider flag well and truly flying!! He will be playing The Green Dragon, Whiston, The Royal Oak, Prescot, Stamps Too in Waterloo, the Crows Nest and the Blundell Arms in Widnes, and anywhere else that would like to give him gigs for that kind of Music.

In the meantime, you can still catch Mark at Stamps Too on a Thursday doing the Acoustic Night, and if you keep checking the gig guide, you'll find the solo rock gigs as well.

Mark would like to thank everybody who has supported STRIDER over the many years of gigging, and is looking forward to seeing you all again very soon. Strider will be back at some point in the future, but in what form, we do not know as of yet. Please keep checking in as this website will be continuing as normal and as soon as there is any news, I'll keep you informed.

Keep Rocking, the Strider way of course.
